Arm knitting is the perfect introduction to crafting with yarn. I discovered it when I wasn’t brave enough to use hooks or needles. It only takes about 30 minutes (once you get the hang of it), and you can make really fun, chunky scarves.
You will need
– your arms
– 2 skeins of chunky/bulky yarn*
– optional: If you want to get fancy, you can use a crochet hook on the ends to make it an infinity scarf. (I just used my fingers.)
*Make sure you buy soft chunky yarn. Not all chunky yarns are equally soft. I have found that white yarn is especially prone to be rough. If it isn’t very soft at the store, don’t get it. It will be firmer when you have two strands together, and nobody wants an itchy scarf. Don’t be afraid to rub the yarn against your neck to test it…unless I am the only person who is really particular like that…
